With the launch of the iPhone 15 series, Apple will ditch the Lightning port in favor of a USB-C port. The company is potentially introducing the new port due to pressure from regulations but it could prove to be a vital addition for the handsets. Additionally, the standard and 'Pro' models would come with a brand-new port. Now, purported images of the USB-C connector parts of the iPhone 15 series have surfaced online, corroborating earlier rumors of the new port.

Apple will announce the new iPhone 15 lineup and Apple Watch Series 9 in the first half of next month, potentially on September 12 or 13. This year, all four models of the iPhone 15 will rock Dynamic Island on the display, making the standard models appear much closer to the 'Pro' models. However, with ample new additions coming this year, it was also reported that the device will adhere to an increase in price. It was reported earlier that the iPhone 15 Pro models will be priced up to $200 more than the current models.

The leaked images of the USB-C connector parts are shared by @lipillisi and @john011235 on Twitter, revealing the PCB components that will connect to the additional parts of the internals. This is not the first time that we are hearing details on the new port. It was previously coined by industry analysts Mark Gurman and Ming-Chi Kuo. The news was among one of the most demanded features on the iPhone for years and this year the company will finally deliver.

The new USB-C port on the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro models will boast various advantages over the Lightning port. The devices will boast faster charging and faster data transfer compared to the Lightning port. However, Apple will devise appropriate mechanisms for third-party accessory makers to manufacture their products as per the company's standards and requirements. The iPhone 15 models will specifically support USB-C accessories with MFi certification.

Both models are receiving their share of major changes this year. The iPhone 15 will finally jump on the Dynamic Island bandwagon, potentially allowing Apple to boost sales of the standard models despite a decrease in overall smartphone shipments. The iPhone 15 Pro will come with a new titanium finish which is one of the reasons why the prices are expected to go up. However, the standard models will also adhere to minor price increases and it raises a question if this year's iPhone models will feature lower than expected demand amidst ongoing inflation.
